José Casanova
José Casanova (*1951) is a Spanish-American sociologist of religion, Professor at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. and Senior Fellow at the Berkley Center. He is known for his work on religion and globalization, migration, religious pluralism and secularization. His work “Public Religions in the Modern World” (1994) is considered a classic in the sociology of religion. Casanova was Kluge Chair at the Library of Congress and is a member of several academies.
