The Struggle for Freedom

"The Constitution of Freedom" 50 years ago

Friedrich August von Hayek is considered one of the most important liberal thinkers of the 20th century. He published his main work “The Constitution of Freedom” in 1960. Sixteen authors deal with this classic of freedom thinking. Hayek’s fundamental moral and legal philosophical themes are discussed from various perspectives, as well as current references to European, monetary and social policy, for example. Hayek’s work highlights parallels and differences between classical liberalism and conservatism. The chapter from the “Constitution of Freedom”: “Why I am not a conservative” is also included in the book. It challenges the reader to review his or her position.
