Liberal Must-Read
Bernd Kramer, Badische Zeitung, 03/07/2010
Friedrich August von Hayek is considered one of the most important liberal thinkers of the 20th century. His major work, The Constitution of Liberty, was published in 1960. Sixteen authors deal with this classic of liberal thought. Hayek’s fundamental moral and legal philosophical themes are discussed from different perspectives, as well as current references to, for example, European, monetary and social policy. Hayek’s work highlights parallels and differences between classical liberalism and conservatism. The chapter from The Constitution of Liberty: “Why I am not a conservative” is also included in the book. It challenges the reader to rethink his or her position.
