The Denationalization of Money

The denationalization through a constitutional binding of the central bank and the anchoring of a preference for monetary stability is illustrated by several contributions. The necessity of further denationalization through more competition is also discussed against the backdrop of the euro crisis. Central banks are questioned, the consequences of the institution of a purely coercive monetary system are pointed out and currency competition is defended as a solution.
