The Denationalization of Money

Several contributions illustrate denationalisation through a constitutional commitment of the central bank and the anchoring of a preference for monetary stability. The need for further denationalisation through more competition is also discussed against the background of the euro crisis. Central banks are questioned, the consequences of a purely coercive monetary system are pointed out and currency competition is defended as a solution.
